New for 2025, Daniel's Abstract and Minimalism photography talk looks at ways to refine and simplify compositions, creating abstract images from a variety of different subjects, making use of techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), long exposures, making use of windows and doors to frame a view, and more.
Daniel also discusses how he uses selective vision to home in on the relevant details to include, avoiding extraneous elements to highlight what caught his eye in the first place.
This talk was written after repeated requests for one covering long exposure photography using neutral density (ND) filters. Daniel didn't feel this warranted a whole talk of its own, so he decided to incorporate it into this one, so that he could include other techniques, subjects, and ideas, to produce minimal and abstract compositions.
This is an interactive talk, I encourage questions and comments, which works well at camera clubs as it sparks discussion, rather than simply being a slideshow.
Ideal for camera clubs, nature groups, WI and U3A groups, this talk has the aim to improve the audience's knowledge and enjoyment of photography.
A talk costs £80. If presented in-person, travelling expenses are charged at 45p/mile, from Billericay, Essex.
Just get in touch through my contact page, it's probably best by email as you can easily let me know dates you have available. Feel free to give me a ring instead though, and we can chat through which talk would be best for you if you haven't yet decided.
Pretty much anyone, although some are maybe better suited to Camera Clubs rather than the average WI meeting. However, that's maybe doing 'non-photographers' a disservice, as my Ten Top Tips talk went down a storm at a local U3A group recently.
I bring a laptop, projector, and extension lead, and can bring a screen too if required, so the only thing I really need is a table or projector stand. If you have a screen I could use, that just makes it a little easier for me.
I give talks to all sorts of organisations; Camera Clubs, Local Wildlife Groups, U3A Groups, anywhere that wants an interesting and effective talk really.
I mainly cover Essex, but have taken bookings from Kent, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, London, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Northamptonshire, and the West Midlands. I haven't been to Oxfordshire or Lincolnshire with a talk yet. Those should be my next counties I think...
Zoom has of course opened up the areas I cover to include, well, anywhere really. So far I've 'visited' the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Shropshire, Somerset, Cumbria, Yorkshire, and many more locations I'd never get the chance to speak to otherwise.
I normally keep going until everyone's asleep, then creep out very quietly...
However, if you require a specific length, it's normally somewhere between 1 ½ to 2 hours, so they fit nicely with a Camera Club meeting, and I can adjust the talk to accommodate your particular meeting times.
Send us your questions and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
